When creating a character, players have several options:

Fresh from the Hedge (0-60xp):

For those changelings who have just escaped their Durance. They still require ST approval but do not require much history beyond a simple paragraph of their captivity and escape.

Settled in the Freehold (61-120xp)

These changelings have escaped Arcadia within the last couple of years and have settled in the freehold with a new identity. They require a more detailed history that recounts who they were before being kidnapped, their captivity and escape, and what they are now doing in the freehold. Characters of this experience gain the New Identity Merit at 1 dot for free.

Playing the Court (121-180xp)

Changelings of this stature have been in the freehold for less than a decade and have been involved in the Courts for many an incident and slander. They require a very detailed history that includes what they have been involved with in the freehold and the Courts. Characters of this experience gain the Hollow Merit with 3 dots to distribute for free, in addition to the benefit of a settled changeling.

Lords of the Freehold (181-300xp)

These changelings are those who are the stalwarts of the freehold and been around for over 10 years, known by most and whose actions are viewed with awe and fear. However, they are also slowly losing their sanity as the pressure of L.A. life eats at their perceptions. Lords must have ST permission to run and a very, very detailed history of their life as a changeling. In addition to the previous mentioned benefits, changelings of this grandeur gain 2 dots in the Mantle Merit for free and must be a member of a Court. However, they must also lower their Clarity by 1 dot and this does not gain the character any experience.
